Coventry and Warwickshire COVID position up to 18.06.2020
• 2,391 cases now confirmed in Coventry and Warwickshire (+12 / +0.5% from Tuesday)
• 68 of these are currently admitted (+0 / +0.0% from Tuesday)
• 538 beds still available (+4 / +0.7% from Tuesday)
• 2 ITU beds occupied by Covid patients (+2 / from Tuesday)
• 495 reported deaths in a hospital setting (+3 / +0.6% from Tuesday)
Care Home current position as at 18.06.2020
• 252 Covid related deaths in care homes (+0 / +0.0% from Tuesday, note some of these deaths may have occurred outside of the home and so may be counted in the figure above)
• 610 Care home deaths in total (+0 / +0.0% from Tuesday)
• 779 confirmed cases (+1 / +0.1% from Tuesday)

1. Medical education sessions for all
Medical education sessions available to all to watch, including a session on IT and AccuRx on 3 June on www.mededcoventry.com. Go to the GP section and then to Presentations, (log in using covgp for both GMC and password). The AccuRx information on 3 June starts about 30 mins in. 2. EMIS Health Live - a fortnight of free online events led by industry experts.
EMIS is hosting a virtual event, EMIS Health Live: The New Normal. With a huge range of sessions spread across a fortnight, The New Normal aims to support professionals navigating the changing healthcare landscape emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic. From panel discussions to lunch & learn sessions, seminars to partner power ups, we’re hosting all our events online, for free.
The fortnight kicks off on 13 July, and they’ve already released some of the sessions, with more to be added. Session topics include Understanding GP Connect, The total triage model, Virtual MDT sessions with EMIS Web and Microsoft Team, and many more. To find out more and access the schedule of events, please visit the dedicated event page. Registrations are now open, and you can sign up to as many sessions as you’d like.
3. TRiM practitioner course
TRiM (Trauma Risk Management) Practitioners - a skills-based course, trained by experienced and skilled TRiM experts who have routinely worked with individuals affected by traumatic incidents. TRiM practitioners, working within organisations, do not require any specialist medical or psychological expertise, but will be able to look after small groups of personnel who may be at risk of developing psychological distress after traumatic events. This skills-based, interactive course is backed up by a series of lectures which covers the relevant theory underpinning the skills taught. The two day course (with dates in July) is currently being held online. If you are interested in participating on one of these courses, please email cwp-tr.trim@nhs.net to register. 4. Talk Cancer live online workshop: Thursday 25th June 10:30am-12:30pm
This cancer awareness workshop is suitable for anyone wanting to improve their skills and confidence to have conversations about making healthy changes to reduce cancer risk, as well as helping people understand of the importance of early detection and screening. Full details are online.
5. Warwickshire Community And Voluntary Action (CAVA) newsletter
Download the latest issue of the Warwickshire CAVA voluntary sector newsletter and includes details of COVID-19 support groups and resources for BAME communities.
6. FAO dispensing practices: SOP for community transport providers in Warwickshire
GP’s/GP dispensary services are advised that the agreed SOP for community transport providers in Warwickshire has been extended until 30/9/2020. This is in order to continue the service to collect and deliver prescriptions for those who are shielded and vulnerable by local community transport schemes across all districts and boroughs. The SOP has been updated to reflect further hygiene guidance, and amends are highlighted. This service is funded by WCC.

7. Lunchtime webinar: Treatment and support for non-dependent and dependent drinkers in Coventry on 3 July 2020 from 1pm to 1.30pm
The session will aid front line staff supporting adults in Coventry. It will be in the form of a 30 minute lunchtime webinar briefing to outline treatment options and harm reduction advice covering the spectrum of alcohol misuse. The webinar will be presented by Karen Wagstaff from HLS Coventry and Steve Bliss from CGL Coventry and will be followed by a Q&A session. The briefing will include an overview of the spectrum of alcohol use and assessing the level of alcohol use. Access is via Microsoft Teams.

8. SWFT diabetes hotline
SWFT Diabetes Service hotline access for worried patients with diabetes is available on 07775 012696, 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm. Additionally Diabetes UK offer a helpline for adults on insulin requiring immediate advice on 0345 123 2399 Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm.

9. Warwickshire North GP & Clinician Virtual Education Programme
Please find details of next weeks education session around Mental Health & Wellbeing and Using Technology during COVID below:
Date: Tuesday 23 June 2020
Time: 1.00 - 2.00pm
Location: access via Microsoft Teams
The session is open to all Clinicians as well as Practice Managers and any other staff, the agenda is to follow. The programme is still being developed and we will advise you of future plans as soon as they are confirmed, the following session being planned is for Tuesday 30th June 2020, 1:00pm – 2:00pm: Managing the breathless Patient
If you are unable to join the session at the scheduled time , it will be recorded and available to view on the Care for Your Career website- https://careforyourcareer.co.uk/organisations/warwickshire-north-ccg/. We are also planning on posting future programming on this website for reference purposes.
