LATEST LOCAL PICTURE

Please remember: we are issuing daily (Monday to Friday) communications via: warnoccg.covid19primarycarecommunications@nhs.net. We would also ask that if you have questions or concerns relating to the current situation around coronavirus and COVID-19 you use the same address: warnoccg.covid19primarycarecommunications@nhs.net. Please keep us updated with any issues that you may be having so we can try to address them.

Coventry and Warwickshire COVID position up to 22.04.2020
• 1,420 cases now confirmed in Coventry and Warwickshire (+63 / +4.6% from yesterday)
• 221 of these are currently admitted (+4 / +1.8% from yesterday)
• 802 beds still available (+58 / +7.8% from yesterday)
• 22 ITU beds occupied by Covid patients (-1 / -4.3% from yesterday)
• 289 reported deaths in a hospital setting (+15 / +5.5% from yesterday)

Care Home cumulative position up to 22.04.2020
Please note: Care home data is now taken from single source system, so should be live data, and removes duplication and designation of homes – it does however not report deaths or affected cases – this was taken previously from the other sources but wasn’t updated dynamically, and included deaths in hospital – so has been taken off the report.

You will see that confirmed cases have increased significantly – particularly for Coventry. This has been double-checked and is due to the switch to the single source system which will be the source used from now on and should remain consistent.

• 245 confirmed cases (+78 / +46.7% from yesterday, note this number will always be lower than residents affected as once a care home has two cases confirmed testing stops and residents with symptoms are assumed positive and reported in the number of residents affected)
o Confirmed care home cases broken down by area (not CCG):
o Coventry: 108
o South Warwickshire: 81
o North Warwickshire and Rugby: 56

3. Changes to local hospital services due to Covid-19

Current version: v07.5, Correct as of 22nd April 2020. Please disregard previous versions.
Your local NHS is working hard to tackle the ongoing COVID-19 situation. However, in order to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect our population, our staff and our NHS, and ensure we have enough staff where they’re needed most, we have had to make some difficult decisions about our non-urgent services, including cancelling appointments or temporarily closing services.

Please note: all providers are committed to contacting patients affected by these temporary service changes and you do not need to contact the hospital booking officers unless it is urgent. (Attachment: Coventry and Warwickshire changes to local hospital services due to Covid-19 v07.5 22nd April 2020.pdf)

4. Cyber Security support

We have heard reports that a cyber attack on a large scale is now rated at “Highly Likely” with cyber criminals using Covid-19 as an angle to cause damage. With this in mind, we ask that you beware of emails with attachments for free things for members of the NHS or even some Covid related information. You should make you are only looking to interact with information from trusted sources only and be particularly cautious when on work computers.

The cyber security mailbox can be reached via cybersecurity@nhs.net or Victoria Axon, NHS Digital Regional Cyber Lead at Victoria.axon1@nhs.net / 07712 693195.
