LATEST LOCAL UPDATE
1. Department of Health and Social Care release statement on “out of date” PPE
Issue: PPE recently deliver to the combined Warwickshire and West Midlands LRF labelled out of date.
A spokesperson for the Department of Health & Social Care said: “The equipment is safe to use as it is from a recognised supplier. This stock was tested to make sure it was still compliant before it was delivered. However, the labels were not changed to avoid delaying distribution. Some products may appear to have out-of-date ‘use by/expiration’ dates or have relabelled ‘use by/expiration’ dates. Please be assured products being issued have passed stringent tests that demonstrate they are safe. The PPE is exposed to extreme conditions for prolonged periods, to see how the product deteriorates. All that are not up to standard are destroyed and not distributed to Trusts. We have been working with independent test facilities and the Health and Safety Executive who, after being provided with scientific evidence, were content with our assessment that these are safe to use by NHS staff.”
2. GP and Locum sickness reimbursement now being managed by NHS England
You will be aware that Practices are entitled to claim locum reimbursement for the first two weeks of sickness absence, in instances where a GP is self-isolating due to COVID-19. It has been agreed that the reimbursement for this two week period will now be paid to practices upon receipt of an application to NHS England. Applications for COVID-19 related sickness will be sent to the CCG for noting, but will not require approval. Reimbursement for the initial two week period will be paid at the full weekly rate of £1,751.52 per week (a total payment of £3,503.04). Practices will be required to submit locum invoices for this two week period, and any reconciliation (if necessary) will then be carried out in due course, upon receipt of the corresponding claim form and locum invoices. All sickness claims relating to COVID-19 will be saved separately for ease of reference, and a full breakdown of COVID-19 related claims can be provided to each CCG, as and when requested. In light of the current circumstances, and with the importance of maintaining practice cashflow during this challenging time, it has been agreed that this is the best way forward with specific regard to locum reimbursement for COVID-19 related sickness.
NOTE: that this process now replaces the local process so please don’t add locum costs for sickness onto your CCG monthly covid claim forms now

For South Warwickshire claims: ENGLAND.swarksfinancehub@nhs.net
For Warwickshire North claims: England.nwarksfinancehub@nhs.net
3. Important: Local Enhanced Service payments April - June
The CCGs have made arrangements to pay all practices their usual monthly sum as per 2019/20 values for April to June 2020 to maintain practice cash flow. This will approach will be reviewed as we progress.
4. Minute’s silence to take place tomorrow (Tuesday 28 April)
A minute’s silence is set to take place tomorrow (Tuesday 28 April) at 11am to honour key workers who have lost their lives due to coronavirus. Tuesday's silence will coincide with International Workers' Memorial Day.
5.Top tips on leading or joining virtual meetings
As more and more of you are leading or taking part in virtual meetings, we thought you might like to read some “top tips”, presented here by the Kings Fund. Although it references Zoom rather than MS Teams, all of the tips apply to Teams as well. These tips have been prepared based on the work of Ghislaine Caulat (2012) – “Virtual leadership: learning to lead differently”. https://www.kingsfund.org.uk/publications/leading-virtual-meetings-top-tips

UPDATES FOR Coventry and Rugby – 27 April 2020
Safety Netting in Vision (attachment item 1 and 2)
As you know Safety netting is a management strategy used in patient care to ensure patients are monitored until their signs and symptoms are explained or resolved. In a situation where normal referral and treatment plans cannot be adhered to, for example, the Coronavirus pandemic, within Vision, a task management system is included that enables you to monitor any disrupted events. The Vision integrated task management system, whether you have Daybook or the new Vision Tasks app, you should create a group of staff to manage these tasks.

Please note: for completeness, we have included the EMIS guidance again as a document. This was originally shared last week as a link.
