Coventry and Warwickshire COVID position up to 05.05.2020
• 1,907 cases now confirmed in Coventry and Warwickshire (+31 / +1.7% from yesterday)
• 144 of these are currently admitted (+3 / +2.1% from yesterday)
• 739 beds still available (-4 / -0.5% from yesterday)
• 9 ITU beds occupied by Covid patients (-1 / -10.0% from yesterday)
• 401 reported deaths in a hospital setting (+6 / +1.5% from yesterday)

Care Home position as at 05.05.2020
• 160 Covid related deaths (note some of these deaths may have occurred outside of the home and so may be counted in the figure above)
• 421 Care Home deaths in total
• 428 confirmed cases 
Confirmed care home cases broken down by CCG:

o Warwickshire North: 85

1. Restoration of services at UHB

2. Coventry GP lunchtime meeting – all welcome

Despite this being a Coventry GP session, GPs from all localities are welcome to join.

On Wednesday 6 May 2020 at 1.00 pm via Zoom. Session topics include: Gastroenterology changes in times of Covid-19 with Dr Nicola Burch, Consultant Physician Gastroenterology, UHCW who will discuss the new pathway for triaging 2WW GI pathways at UHCW during the pandemic period with time for questions and Renal changes in times of Covid-19 with Dr Sarah Grieve, Consultant Nephrologist, UHCW who will then discuss how Covid-19 is involved in acute kidney injury and other renal issues. The meeting can be accessed by Zoom at the following link.

LATEST NATIONAL PICTURE 
 
• As reported at 5.30pm on 4 May 2020, 1,291,591 people have been tested in the UK and 190,584 were confirmed as positive. The number of COVID-19 associated deaths in the UK is 28,734. (Please note: there is now an improved daily reporting system for deaths, so that deaths in all settings are included, wherever the individual has tested positive for COVID-19, rather than just those in hospitals. On the old measure there would have been 24,332.)  
• The coronavirus press conference on 4 May 2020 delivered by Matt Hancock, Health Secretary on the government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic can be viewed on YouTube.  
• The press conference slides and datasets used by Professor Jonathan Van-Tam, Deputy Chief Medical Officer for England are available to read.

3. NHS England Primary Care Bulletin – new edition – 5 May

COVID-19: latest guidance for general practice is issued in the NHS England Primary Care Bulletin (5 May) and in this issue includes an update on shielding patients for general practice, the role of physiology and oximetry webinar and details of a letter sent to all primary care from the United Kingdom’s CMOs and Medical Directors of Public Health England and NHS England thanking all healthcare staff for their efforts in responding to the COVID-19 epidemic.
